Samos is in the southeastern Aegean. It has unique natural scenery and consists of picturesque villages and harbors, as well as plenty historical monuments. Its capital called Samos or Vathi. Karlovasi, Pythagoreio and Marathokampos are municipalities of the island.

On the coast of the island there are many small traditional villages, some less and others more developed. The most famous Samian products are its wine and oil. Karlovassi has a large commercial port and it is considered the commercial center of the island.
